(Thurs Nov 10)  The John Paul Cross Country Team traveled to Woodberry Forest, Virginia on Thursday to compete in the VISAA Division 1 State Cross Country Championships on a challenging and hilly course.  The meet was originally scheduled for Friday but was moved up due to the impending storm.  The boys team finished in fourth place overall and were led by Junior Matthew Elliott and Sophomore Austin Colvin who finished 8th and 13th to earn a spot on the VISAA Division 1 All State Team.  Junior James Bertram, Freshman Jonah Berkey, and Senior James Hurley rounded out the top five for the boys finishing in 28th, 30th, and 33rd overall.  In the girls race, Sarah Dake’s 13th place finish led the lady wolves to a 9th place finish.  Sarah's performance earned her a spot on the VISAA Division 1 All State team.  The coaches were impressed with the performance of such a young team and are looking forward to next year with almost all of them returning. Congratulations to Sarah, Matthew, and Austin for being named to the VISAA Division 1 All State Team.   (Fri Sep 30)  The John Paul Cross Country team traveled to Woodberry Forest School to compete in the Woodberry Forest 46th Annual Cross Country Invitational.  The race times were moved earlier in the day to avoid the potential remnants of Hurricane Ian but that did not affect the JP Harriers.  The boys team, led by Juniors James Bertram and Matthew Elliott, and Sophomore Austin Colvin who finished in the 20th, 21st, and 26th place, paced the team to a fourth place finish out of 24 teams competing.  Senior James Hurley and Freshman Jonah Berkey rounded out the JP top five for the boys Varsity team.  In the girls race, solid performances were turned in by Senior Sarah Dake and Sophomores Brooke Ortega, Missy Petras, and Helena Fry and Junior Isabella Alicea, to round out the girls JP top five in this race.  JP will return to Woodberry Forest in Nov for the VISAA State Championships.  Next up for the team is the VCAC meet #2 at Burke Lake on Tuesday Oct 4.   Official Meet Results: https://va.milesplit.com/meets/485596-woodberry-forest-cross-country-invitational-2022/results ...
