Fry Sets School Record at Walter Bass Invitational

The Saint John Paul the Great Indoor Track team traveled down to Liberty University yesterday to compete in the Walter Bass High School Indoor Invitational.  For many of the athletes, this was their first time competing on an indoor track.  The highlight of the day was Senior Xander Fry’s third place finish in the 1600m with a time of 4:28.93 which was a new school record in this event by over 5 seconds. Later in the day, Xander competed in the 3200m finishing 6th in a personal best time of 9:55.27.  Several other athletes obtained personal bests in their event including the following: Missy Petras in the 500m; Lily Myrvold in the 55m; Sonya Dillon and Victor Guzman in the 55m and 300m; Noah Smith in the 1000m; Daniel Merriman in the shot put; and Matthew Elliott in the 1000m and 1600m.
Congratulations to the Wolves track team on their solid performance at this meet.  The team will be back in action on Thursday Jan 20 when they compete in the Maroon & Black Relays at Episcopal HS.
