On Saturday Sep 28 the John Paul Country Team traveled to Ashland VA to participate in the Patrick Henry Invitational. The boy’s team finished first out of 16 teams and was led by the fourth place finish of Senior Ryan Wall (16:27). The team’s win was made possible by strong performances from Junior Brandon Thompson (17:30), Senior Dalton Oylear (17:38), Sophomore Xander Fry (17:39), and Senior Zach Elliott (17:52)  who all finished within 22 seconds of each other to round out the top 5 scorers.  In the girls race, Senior Clara Wiederholt (20:46) finished seventh to pace the girls team to a 9^th place finish. Seniors Kathryn Oylear (22:24) and Lauren Atkinson (23:16) and Freshmen Sarah Dake (23:25) and Mia Roder (24:19) rounded out the top 5 scores. In the Boy’s JV race Sean Alorro (18:40) finished second. Overall, everyone on the team ran well on this mostly flat and fast course.  Congratulations to the boys team for their first place victory.

The Cross Country team will return to action on Monday Oct 7 when they will host the JP Chaplain Invitational (John Paul Home meet and Senior Night) at Leesylvania State Park.

Sep 7, 2019: Senior Ryan Wall won the Varsity B race at the 37^th Annual Monroe Parker Invitational and led the Wolves to a second place finish. Other medalist included Senior Dalton Oylear in 6^th place, and Junior Brandon Thompson in 13^th place.  Rounding out the top 5 scores include Sophomore Xander Fry in 19^th place and Senior Zack Elliott in 36^th place. On the girl’s side, Senior Clara Wiederholt medaled with a 13^th place finish to pace the girl’s team to a 5^th place finish. Juniors Margaux Gelbach and Erin Elliott and Seniors Kathryn Oylear and Abigail Harrigan rounded out the top 5 varsity scorers. Congratulations to the John Paul Cross Country team on a great early season performance. The Wolves will travel next weekend to compete in the William and Mary Invitational.
