Biography:
Michael Fowler became the head coach at St. John Paul the Great (JP) in 2023. He is a graduate of Hofstra University, in Hempstead, NY. Prior to Hofstra, he played one year of lacrosse at Mt. St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, MD winning the team MVP as a freshmen. He then transferred to Hofstra University and played on the football and lacrosse teams. During his lacrosse playing career, he was 3rd team All American on attack and 10th leading scorer in the country. He was also a member of the Hofstra University Lacrosse teams that were ranked 7th and 13th in the country and an NCAA playoff team. He still holds the Hofstra record for Best Goals Per Game Average for a Season and still ranks in the Top Ten for Most Goals in a Season. After graduation he continued to play for the powerhouse Long Island/Hofstra Club team winning a club championship. At the time the club league was the foundation for the MLL and PLL and included the traditional teams of LI/Hofstra, Mt. Washington, Brine Lacrosse Club, and Maryland Lacrosse Club.
He began his coaching career at his alma mater in Wantagh, NY coaching the high school summer league teams. He was also the head lacrosse coach of M.A.B. Paints Lacrosse Club, a Philadelphia based club team. Due to career commitments, he gravitated towards youth lacrosse and coached lacrosse in Virginia and New Jersey for over 30 years. He has coached and held the position of Player Development with the Manassas Battlefield Youth Lacrosse (MBYL) currently known as "The Brigade" and Bridgewater Youth Lacrosse (BYL) in Bridgewater, NJ.
Coach Fowler comes to JP after being an assistant coach at Patriot HS in Nokesville, VA for three years working primarily with the face off players. In his spare time he enjoys cycling and traveling with his family.
