Saint John Paul the Great was honored to have 6 student athletes receive All-Sate Honors this past Fall Season.
Senior Nate Stefonsky was named to the All-State 2nd Team as both a running back and cornerback. Stefonsky had a prolific senior season finishing with 1,125 rushing yards in the season with 12 touchdowns. Fellow Senior Running back and safety, Ethan Bigbee was named Honorable Mention All-State. Bigbee finished the season with 512 rushing yards, 118 receiving yards and 32 tackles. Also on the offensive side of the ball were seniors Sebastian Collazo and James Ball. Collazo was named 2nd Team All-State for Offensive Line and James Ball was named Honorable Mention as a kicker with 20 PAT’s.
Junior defensive-end and tide-end Michael Kosar was named 2nd Team All-State. Kosar finished 2nd in the state with 7 sacks. He totaled 42 tackles, 6 of which were tackles-for-loss. Kosar also broke the top 20 in the state with 142 yards receiving. Senior Dennis Donovan was also nominated to the 2nd Team All-State as a linebacker. His team leading 111 tackles for the season finished him at #2 in the state for total tackles.Included in his 111 tackles were 4 sacks. Junior Patrick Tyler was nominated as Honorable Mention for All-State as a Defensive Tackle. Tyler was hampered by injury and missed 2 games but racked up 50 tackles including 5 tackles-for-loss. Finally Junior Yzreal Hall was also named to the All-State Honorable Mention list as a safety. Hall finished the season with 49 tackles.
Kedus Michael made the 2nd Team All-State list for boy’s soccer. Michael who is currently in his senior year has already verbally committed to West Virginia University. Michael registered 19 goals and 8 assists this past season earning him the 2nd Team All-State recognition and helped the Wolves reach for the VISAA playoffs.
